Beloved performer Carol Burnett, who recently turned 90 years old on April 26, 2024, was honoured with a touching NBC show called Carol Burnett: 90 Years of Laughter + Love. Leading up this historic event, Burnett kindly answered numerous interviews, including one that moved many people – an emotional talk with Peoples magazine.
Burnett revealed during the interview her late daughter Carrie Hamilton, who at the young age of 38 in 2002 lost her battle with cancer. Carrie’s absence from Burnett’s life clearly has a significant influence since she talks on how she keeps her memory with her every day. Burnett smiles about the advise Carrie once gave, “Every day I wake up and decide.”
In both her personal and professional spheres, the mother-daughter team bonded well. They worked on a theatrical adaptation of Burnett’s autobiography called Hollywood Arms. Though Carrie never had the chance to see the play through to completion, Burnett was resolved to see it done as a memorial to her dear daughter.
The two-hour NBC presentation highlighted the great influence Carol Burnett has had on the entertainment industry in recognition of her remarkable journey full of laughter and love. It is an honoring of a life well-lived and evidence of the ongoing legacy of one of the most adored entertainers in America.
As Carol Burnett inspires us with her incredible resiliency and unflinching attitude, let us pray and send well wishes to her collectively.
